On The Air: Zack East

ZACK'S MYSPACE PAGE: http://www.myspace.com/rock107zack

Name: Zack East (ZEast Infection, ZEast or Zee for short...also Zackariah)
Shift: Afternoons 2pm-7pm / Program Director
Marital / Children Status: Married to my iPod with children in the form of CDs, vinyl, and cassettes. Music is easier to deal with; you can turn it off when you're through with it.
Hail from: originally Michigan City and Three Oaks for a while, but now chillin' in the hood of Lakeside
My Hero: Dr. Johnny Fever from WKRP in Cincinnati. Stay cool babies. Booger.
Tattoos or Piercings: I am punched in four places currently; industrial bar on my left ear, a helix cartilage piercing on my right, and both lobes. And my tattoo is an armband with two bands commemorating the life and childhood influence of my Uncle Mike and Grandfather Anthony.
Hobbies: I love sleeping. And all kinds of music. And eating. The eating part is easily seen via my fat ass. When I am not in front of a mic, I am at home in my home studio recording commercials and doing production work for other radio stations in Michigan and across the country. Summer beach trips are a necessity. My other favorite things to do include talking to friends at some of the local establishments, discovering new rock music, and going to Chicago to have some fun. Word.
Beverage Of Choice: Bud Select has really grown on me, as well as the berry flavors of Mike’s Hard Lemonade. And being a Ferris State alum, I have acquired a taste for Jagerbombs. If I’m not drinking, I love juice. Lots of juice.
I'd Most Like To Bang: Your grandmother. No, actually, I’d love to f**k Eric Foreman’s girlfriend Donna Pinsiati (what the hell is that girl’s name?) from That 70s Show. First she’d have to be the red-haired version one night, then the blond-haired version the next night. Tall girls…yeaah buddy. Oh, and Kelly Clarkson. She needs something in her mouth to keep her from singing sometimes.

How did you get started in Radio? Believe it or not, WIRX has been my home all this time, since January 2004. I got my big break while talking to a friend and was overheard in the room by a WIRX staff member about my interest in radio. They offered me a chance to come in and do a shift on a Friday night…and the rest is history. After that point in time, I was doing weekends and filling in on occasion. I also worked a little as an arts and entertainment reporter for WGN Radio Chicago for Southwest Michigan. Then as I went to Ferris, I worked at some stations in town to keep my pipes clean, and now that I’ve graduated (BA in Communication), I’m back on the airwaves full-time in Southwest Michigan working with the best staff (*chuckle*) in all of radio.
What's the most Annoying question people ask you? WHAT’S THE NAME OF THAT SONG? You know, the one that goes “doo doo doo doo?” Don’t sing to me.
What's your most memorable concert experience? Dave Matthews Band concert…about the time BEFORE Soldier Field turned into a giant flying saucer. I got a free set of tix for the front row standing section and I am pretty sure Dave spit on me twice during that show. I think he was just saying hi in his own way.
Weirdest Experience? Making it through college in four years without A.) dying of alcohol poisoning, B.) getting an STD, C.) doing a lick of homework.
What cd are you embarrased to own? Mariah Carey’s album with the song “Hero” on it. I remember buying the album for a girl in Middle School and then found out she never wanted to talk to me again. So I kept it for some reason. And I admit I listened to it once or twice. But I am pretty sure it’s in the attic somewhere now.
