The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal shooting in Hartford Monday.
The department says deputies were called to the 400 block of Mary Street around 1:15 a.m. on a report of a fight in progress with shots fired. They arrived to find an unresponsive man. Attempts to save the 42-year-old Hartford man’s life were made, but he died at the scene.
A 41-year-old Hartford woman is now in custody and is the suspect in the shooting.
The sheriff’s department says there’s no threat to the public. It says the suspect has been cooperating and is awaiting arraignment.
The case remains open and ongoing, and police say they will release more information once it’s available.
