A crash between a Michigan State Police trooper and a passenger vehicle in Niles this week is under review by the MSP.

State police says the crash happened Tuesday around 10:20 p.m. on South 11th Street in Niles Township. A trooper assigned to the Niles post was responding to an emergency call when their patrol vehicle rear-ended a Nissan Rogue that had been heading north. The trooper’s lights and siren were not activated at the time.

Both the trooper and driver of the Nissan Rogue were wearing seatbelts and report only minor injuries.

State police say the crash is under investigation and the matter will be referred to the Berrien County Prosecutor once a review is finished.
